50 cent said of Gorillaz "They aren't a normaly functioning band." and decried their win at the EMA's.
We all know the characters of the band are animations, no more real that InuYasha or Yogi Bear. But do you consider the musicians behind the characters a real band? Should they be up for awards? Or should they been seen on the same level as Alvin and the Chipmunks?
For the record, I'm a fan. And I consider them a real band as the musicians and animators are obviously talented. The music is tight, and there are real artists behind it. But I'd like to see what others think?

They are a real band. The musicians are real, and they should be eligible for awards like any other band

They had a live concert a few months ago. They have an entire orchestra and stuff. The animations are just for the music videos. The people who make the music look nothing like the characters.

Yeah, I'd say they're a real band. They are characterized as people through the animation and have real voices and stuff. I find it cool that they are like that, virtual. A new insight on revealing a new look to the music industry. I love thier music. My favorite is "Clint Eastwood".

Their music is great and so what if we can't see the real deal, remember milli vanili the 80's lip syncers that were damned. it would be nice to put a face with those awesome vocals though.

They are a real Band for sure, and their music is cool...
everybody knows that except that jealous "half a dollar man"... they call 50cent, if he is so petty over it, he should change his name to 5 pence then cents.. Period
