its a way to share file peer-to-peer. they are usually tracked by someone so that they know who has the file avaiable to upload. you need a special program to download it, like bitcomet. it works kinda like limewire, but someone makes the original ile, and there is only one of each file, unlike limewire where you will find many similar files.

A torrent file is a file that contains information about a file or set of files. This includes the file names, sizes, date created and some other information. The torrent file also contains an info hash or code for that torrent. You will need to open them in torrent client software
