I think its just human nature to try to turn purple to either red or blue depending on where that person is in their life and what the object is as well. Most people can't accept things being purple it's just wrong somehow.

I just don't know why? There is purple rain! purple people eaters,purple passion. Purple is all around. Just as it aint easy being green it ain't easy to accept the purple fact!

because they think of barney the purple dinosaur and they are like ewwwwwwwwww
and they prefer a cute pink hippo as yourself as opposed to a purple dinosaur that sings that annoying song

'cause purple is not a primary color - so people still need red & blue to create purple
