Explain the paging functions in cellular system ?

The paging function is what causes the phone to ring, so a page is sent from a cell tower out to the phone, and the phone rings. That's it.

If you send a blank message to most cellphones, it will ring a special ring, a different ring than rings when a normal text message is received
