I never thought about swapping the buns, but I have done the rest of this at several locations, it's known as a "Skinny Mac". Some locations will charge extra for the "Special Sauce" and/or lettuce but you'll still end up saving two or three dollars going this route.

Yes, it's supposed to be one top,and 2 bottoms of buns. I've heard of it accidently coming with more but, it's never happened to me.

there's always been 3 layers (used to work at mcd's). one time i had a big mac, i had 6 layers of buns....it was on a dare....
