For any object to be in circular motion there must always be a force which is acting to ward the center of the circle and must also be perpendicular to the speed ( velocity) of the object moving in circular path.

In the case of bucket and water moving in circular path, there is a net force which is always perpendicular to the direction of motion of water and pointed toward the center of the circle.

This force is called centripetal force.

The same explanation is for the bucket also.

The bucket too will not move in circular path but for the centripetal force.

Centrifical/centrifugal force doesn't exist. Tangital velocity is what holds the water in the bucket.

I believe it's from the force of gravity...there's pressure against the water.
