My job transferred me to S. Florida to work. While I look for apartments, I'm staying at an extended stay hotel (that happens to be roach infested) where I pay weekly . I expressed an interest in staying here for 6+ mos (it IS a hotel so nothing is in writing) & am now told that I have to leave in 3 days because a woman who cancelled her reservation now has UN-cancelled her reservation.... probibly a bull-crap story. I don't know the real reason I am being kicked out. I suspect it may have something to do with the roach problem... possibly the need to fumigate or inspection or something. If I go back to my home state, I'd be leaving my job. This hotel is not only depriving me of a home, but they are causing me to lose my job!

I'd like some legal advice... Is there anywhere I can go... just to stay here in S. Florida (so I can keep my job)? Can Social Services help me? Shelters? Should I talk to a lawyer about this? Where should I go right now? If u know law, please answer.

surely this is NOT the only long stay hotel in the area??? I am in N. Florida and there is maybe 15 in the area that leaps to mind and I have never used them, just driven by.............have a good look in the phone book and see what else is up for offer in the area........as well as put a notice at work asking for a roommate placement.......tell your boss, maybe they have some sort of solution / aide for you........

Your best course of action at this time is to take whatever apartment you can get in order to keep your job - which is the most important thing. In addition, go to your employer's human resources dept. and ask them for assistance in obtaining permanent housing. When you relocate for a job, this is part of HR's responsibilities to you.

As far as the hotel goes, because nothing is in writing, they are not obligated legally to provide long term housing to any of their customers without a written contract, since they are primarily a short term housing provider.

Why don't you just look for another place to stay?? Does it have to be right there? I'm certain if you get a news paper they have rental listings. Or, even check the real estate on the internet for that area, and look up rentals.

You make it sound like this is the only hotel miles and miles around and the super bowl is in town.

Leave, go somewhere else. This one has roaches.
