IPod is a portable music player that can play mp3 files.
So, if your question is to find out if an IPod is better than other mp3 players, I can answer that too.

IPod can play mp3 music files and Apple's own music files as well. IPod usually is larger than some other music players. But that has changed since other Mp3 players with mini hard-drive in them like Zune came out.

I have both IPod and other mp3 players but I would like to try the Zune because it is made by Micro Soft and compatibility won't be the issue with Windows. I didn't really like IPod although I got the most expensive model. For me compatibility in EVERY way is important. And Zune will be a good try especially with the new Windows called Vista and the new Windows media player.

So, you cannot compare the two IPod and MP3. IPod can play Mp3 music file. And I personally prefer other MP3 players than IPod.

I hope this helps.

Well an ipod and an mp3 player are the same thing except:

iPod can be used for the following popular files:mp3, mpeg, AAC, and unprotected WMA. It will not allow music downloaded from walmart urge or any other wma

Mp3s plays mp3 and mpeg files (again most popular files). They also play WMA files depending on which one you get (i.e. Zune)

The best bet would be the iPod less confusing instructions on Syncing better service. More selection of music, free music(not the one where you pay for an subscription*), video podcasts, podcasts, music videos, movies, TV shows, and more

*itunes does have you register your credit card but all you have to do is regesiter and then itunes gift cards so it won't charge your credit card. Need credit card for free stuff but it is worth it no pesky info

ipods have a simple interface and easy to use buttons, while some generic mp3 players have miniscule buttons and complex folder systems to even get to your music. itunes is very easy to use even if you dont know anything about computers it will automatically put your songs onto the ipod
