A lot of long answers, going to keep mine short:
Whethear the feminist movement is about true equality or not, it is really subject and depends on the particular change due of feminist movement. In my opnion, the feminist movement should be about obtaining equal rights fro women. Women should be allowed to do anything they wanted to do. However, that does not mean there will always be equal share of pie for both men and women. If men are performing better at certain types of job, they should get paid better. If certain jobs have higher percentage of men becuase men are better suited to the work, quotas should not be forced upon to have more women doing the job.
Because this ideal is not clearly understood, we have situations where women are not eager to get into military, and we are not pushing more men to become nurses. The equality between men and women should not be about quotas, but about equal rights to succeed.
Just my two cents.

Is the feminist movement about true equality? Emphatically, NO.
Here's one prime example. Women can have sex just like any man. If she becomes pregnant she can abort the fetus. Without going into the inequality of abortion between men and women, if the mother decides not to abort, after birth she has the legal ability to simply take the child to a "safe-haven", such as fire station, police department, hospital, etc., and walk away. A man cannot decide whether to become a parent after conception and if he should attempt to walk away is labeled "dead-beat" and a criminal who will be forced to provide for the child, received harsh punishments or perhaps even be jailed. If the mother decides to keep the baby and raise it, the father is forced at the point of a gun to provide money to her, ostensibly for the child but in all actuality, it can be used for anything including beer, cigarettes, lottery tickets or the child's needs.
Do feminists want equality? How many are demanding that fathers have even semi-equal rights to be a parent? How many are demanding that fathers have the equal ability to deny parenthood? How many are demanding that fathers be equal as mothers? How many are in favor of men being entitled to walk away from a child the way women can?
The answer is that feminists want all the options while at the same time denying men the same. It is not equality they demand, it is superiority.

Equality should be across the board. No situations should be different nor should different consequences be evoked if the perpetrator is a male or female. I think that most feminists would agree that there needs to be a level playing field. In some areas such as law the original laws were made with men in mind so these should be adjusted to fit the female who is either being charged or is the victim, the same for males. Rape is currently charged like a property law and should be changed as should child abuse to reflect the true nature of this crime and realize that it is not about sexuality but about power and the abuse of power.

Years ago I had a friend. He and others used to have a few drinks at the pub but he always left at about quarter to seven.
There were ribald comments LIKE "she's got you under the thumb mate?"
Once he was late leaving. The next day he was in hospital.
Women rape. They are sometimes (rarely) convicted if they rape a minor. A penis can be made to become erect and inserted without a man's volition. I doubt it happens often but then there are women who (often with understandable but unfair reasons) who really hate ALL men.
Having your bum pinched by ladies at work may or may not be childish fun.
Equal pay for equal work is simply justice. I sympathise with women of real ability who are stopped from promotion by the "glass ceiling". Women should be free to achieve as much as men do. But they should have similar restraints if they are needed.
In many ways I believe that women are more responsible than men and any suggestion, as above, made about a minority ,should not be used to make judgements about women generally.
Women, thank God are like men, individuals.
Though in sixty years of continued discovery I can safely say that women are equal but certainly different.

There is no such thing as "equality". I could not beat Tyson in a fight. I cannot play basketball like LeBron James. I cannot paint like Van Gogh. Woman was created different from a man. Her primary purposes were not the same as a man. She has rights, equal pay, and sufficient in the way of status. NOW has loused up sports programs all over the country, and MALaffected so many! Personally, I do not believe in "statuatory rape", when it is consensual. But no legislator will make the change in these wrongful laws. Girls at 14 or so, can be VERY seductive, and attractive. More so, than guys at the same age. Equality?? No! Yet the guy is labelled a "predator", "child molester", or worse. This is blatantly WRONG!! She chooses to be sexually active, so why not with a guy who cares, appreciates, and is kind. Not some dorky kid who knows nothing, and can leave some bad, emotional scars that will last years! Just because he is under 18, does NOT make it OK ! Equality?? No.

yes, and no.
it is true that women should join the military more actively, and i agree with you in your confusion as to why a man hitting a woman is so much more 'serious' than the other way around.
however, it is also true that women are more subjected to physical and sexual abuse.
there were some guys at my school who thought girls were just props. the whole school sympathized for the girls they'd gotten pregnant. the girls claimed the guys had left them when they needed the most support, and I could sort of see their point of view, but at the same time, i thought the girls were stupid too, to end up in this situation. If they were raped, alright, but they weren't, they CHOSE to have unprotected sex.
sorry i went a bit off topic there, just giving an example.
so you can see i have a lot of mixed feelings about this issue.
*men are generally seen as 'stronger' than women, so when they hit women, it seems more of a serious crime than the other way around
*25% of girls between the ages of 14 and 21 are raped or sexually abused
i don't know, sorry i couldnt answer the question clearly, but i think this question has unclear answers.
hope this helps.

it's not about true equality, its a sham! and western women just can't use their brains because they been bombarded with propaganda and false hopes since they were children. feminist women got alot of loose screws, we only see feminism in the west, no where in the east, WHY? because in the east, women know their place and their role being part of the human race. western women know what they only learn from their government which is an absolute corrupt evil corporation, sucking $$$ off the blood of innocent men and the not so great feminists. its not even about $$$, it's about power, everyone knows women are followers, and once women are in so called 'power', the cabal government has just to order and they'll go with the flow, Only a few years to go brothers and sisters, you will witness the greatness event of our lives! and it's about to start pretty soon. can't you feel it? the coming of the darkness, it's near, its at our doorstop, just a little while more before it crashes down the door and comes in raining chaos and destruction.

So to summarise:
Men and women are equal but different so we have equality, that is why we need equality.
Two apples plus two apples is four. Two apples plus two oranges are equal but different. Combine them together and you have two really big FRUITS.
Now, the important part is for an apple to have the same advantages as an orange. That is equality with the orange, and by equality I am forgetting to mention that the orange doesn't get the advantages of the apple, although they are equal but different, so I really mean supremacy (and turning women into really big fruits), however simple mathematics dictates apples and oranges are equal but different and therefore I will KEEP MENTIONING THIS but also mention that apples need the advantages of the orange in order to be equal so that I can say feminism is about equality for purposes of accountability.
Simple mathematics.

it started when women were no longer treated with the respect they deserve...this created a few insecure nutjobs who wanted to be pro-active in gaining respect (which is the wrong way to approach any problem). Though men are partly responsible...it's up to the woman to be strong and deal with it....you know...like the way men deal (and put up with) so much crap from the "liberated woman".....if you want men to respect you and honor you...you cant be a rigid overbearing psychopath :)

i agree. it does seem this way to me, and i have often wondered why a man hitting a woman seems to be taken more seriously than the other way around. people shouldn't hit one another at all (unless defending or something)it's that simple. it seems that they want to fight for something when it's convenient for them. i think that if we want true equality, we should be expected to particiate in the military when necessary, and take responsibility for our actions (ie hitting a man) and not blame them on emotions or w/e.
