Another small show of hypocricy was the fact that the townspeople and prominent ones of society who shunned the adultress let her embroider for them and did business with her. That is just a small detail to add to the obvious ones that other's said.
Another one is chillingworth and how he always acted like he wanted to help Dimesdale as his doc, but really he was torturing him and making him more sick.

Just as the lady caught in adultery in the Bible, the person who had to wear the scarlet "A" committed adultery with another person, but that individual was never brought to 'justice." There is either a double standard or it's simple hypocrisy. The law needs to apply to everyone equally.

First, Dimmesdale (the preacher) acted like he was holy and perfect when in fact he was the one who slept with Hester. Second, that sister of the governor (who was a very prominent woman in the town) was actually a witch.

A pastor who condemned an illegitimate pregnancy turned out to be promiscuous himself. That is hypocritical.
