Depends on the health of the baby.
I had my son at 35 weeks and he did not have no problems whatsoever and did not have to stay in the hospital for anything. He got out the same day as i did. It was a 3 day stay because i had a c-section.

My son was born at 36 1/2 weeks and spent 3 nights in the NICU. He was 6 lb. 5 oz., so a good weight and his lungs were fine. He just did not know hoe to eat. He had a harm time latching on. I kept hearing that this may be normal for a 36 weeker - mention of 36 week syndrome. I never looked this up, but I have heard of this happening to others as well.

Of the four in my family born at 36 weeks in the last 6 months (2 sets of twins) only one had to stay in the hospital longer than his mom, and he was out in a week.

It depends on how the baby is doing.....how well the lungs have developed. My little girl was born 5 weeks and 1 day early and she weighed four pds 15ozs. She was sent home three days after delivery, just like a normal new born, I couldn't believe it. She is my little fighter!

it depends on how developed the lungs are if the lungs are fine there is no reason other wise thay may keep the baby for a few weeks. its better for him/her to stay in the hospital than go home and have deadly complications.... good luck!
