Trust me I have recently moved here and everyone that I talk to agrees that it's an awful place to live in. Not ony does the weather stink, but utilities are off the wall.

Why don't you leave then. There must be a reason why more people move here than move away. You are in the major minority. If you think it is expensive in Arizona try California and then you will be back to Phoenix and we will still welcome you with open arms.

Besides 100 zillion mexicans can't be looking for an expensive place to live.

Ok, so it's hot. Big deal. You run from your air conditioned house to your air conditioned car to your air conditioned place of work. Ok, utilities can get expensive in the summer, but there are so many other reasons to live here. Rent and mortgage payments are way less expensive than California, the weather is gorgeous the other 7-8 months out of the year, no snow unless you want it and you can just drive 2 hours north to get it.

I'm a native of AZ-born and raised. I own a home I bought for 119k, and yes, I deal with an electric bill of about 150.00 for 3 months but under 100.00 the rest of the year. There's lots to do and see and San Diego, Los Angeles and Las Vegas are only a 5-7 hour drive away.

I have lived in Arizona for 20 years and there is no place that I would rather be. I have certainly watched the state fill up with people from California, and personally I wish they would move back...our traffic is horrendous due to the huge influx of people moving in. I have traveled all over the United States and the price of our food is in line with every major city I have ever been in, the cost of apartments is actually low compared to many large cities, and if you think electricity is expensive here, go pay the price of propane gas in one of the cold states, where you have to use your heater 9 months out of the year...at least here you only have 5 months of intense weather. MOVE AWAY I SAY!

Poor evaluation because you could easily "say" the same things about a lot of places like Florida (damn hot and very humid and Expensive). Depends upon your overall expectations and where you are coming from! Phoenix has near ideal weather 8 months a year and then it's very hot in the summer months. Which is better living back East in the cold winters and with their awful humidity in the summers? Cost of living is totally outrageous in most of California (SF, LA or San Diego) so it is All relative to each's individual situration. You can Not make such wide and unsupported wide generalizations!

nicely, Scottsdale is popular because the "Beverly Hills" of AZ. Snobby human beings, yet funds is particularly sturdy at bars and golf equipment. Tempe is the school-y city, sturdy funds to be made on Mill Ave the position human beings congregate on the weekends even though it really is so collegey so it receives kinda ghetto. Anthem has NO bars, that's particularly kinfolk oriented and entirely out of how of each and every thing. i might want to propose residing in Scottsdale or close by Scottsdale, like Paradise Valley.

I don't know where you live in Arizona, but it's great here. The weather is perfect and it's cheaper than a lot of places to live. After work today, my husband and I threw on a pair of shorts and drove on the non-snowy roads to get some dinner (which was affordable in Gilbert/Chandler area).
This weekend we're going hiking and up to Flagstaff to "visit" snow.
I LOVE this place!

Okay... Then lets trade places! I would love to move back to Az. I have now lived in the hot, humid, hurricane, ignorant and bug infested south for EIGHT LONG YEARS!!!!!

Honestly, maybe you should look into living in a less populated area. You did not mention what part of Az. you live in.

I'm curious as to where you moved from, as I have found the opposite to be true. Phoenix is fairly inexpensive as far as rent, housing prices, auto insurance etc... However, I moved from SE Florida, which is VERY expensive to live.

I love the weather in Phoenix - the summer is brutal of course, but from October to May you really can't beat it.

I used to live in Arizona and I thought it was way cheaper than living in Boston. The weather is awesome!
