Money isn't like electricity that when it is spent it is just gone. There is no such thing as "wasting money" all it does is change hands from one person to another.
So, what your question is really - "Who's hands should we avoid giving money to." I would answer you, but you didn't ask that.

Money is being wasted a lot in political circles and beaurucrats all over the world. First is they are paid a heavy salary. Next they have the power to manupulate and third is to maintain/susrain their position they spend hell lot in malfide use.
Next is the war expenses. Many countries have companies that makes war related equipments. Their business will grow or be on par only when there is a war.
Just imagine when u r angry how u go and hit/scold without knowing the consequence, Probably u may use a sentence.
AT ANY COST I WANT TO HIT HIM.
u r an individual, when this is done by the head of a country, then it is war. which means loss of life,property, agricultural fields and the list is big. Here the loss is of 2 types immediate and the after effects.

Wars are a waste of money. Materialism and having much more than you legitimately need to survive is a waste of money. Overindulgence in plastic surgery is a waste and overeating to the point most obese Americans do it is a waste on many fronts, not only the consumption of food that someone else could use, but all the medical problems overeating engenders. There are so many wastes, particularly in the is country, it would take hours to list.

If to compare feeding all poor people, then most money has gone to waste in many things.
the company and household profligacy, encompassed many unusefull spending.
all that alcoholic beverage spending? fashion? whore?
Though every new industry that arised have given opportunity to all people to work.
We could hope the Bill Gates and his foundation and others to reach other remote country that doesn't get the opportunity to new industry expansion.
