in many parts of mexico its still used today by curanderos in herbal medicine... its used to treat nausea after chemotherapy, as an anticonvulsant, an analgesic, an asthma treatment (yes! pot dialates bronchioles) for glaucoma, tumor inhibitor for lung cancer, an antibacterial agent, and to increase peripheral vasodialation...and thats just the ones that have been proven in the lab.
first mention of pot as medicine was in the Chinese Emperor's Pharmacopoeia 3000 years ago.
folk uses: treatment for beri beri, gout, constipation, absent mindedness (?), gonorrhea, chest pain, choking, insomnia, neuralgia, painful rheumatism, gastrointestinal disorders, cholera, tetanus, epilepsy, strychnine poisoning, acute bronchitis, whooping cough, asthma, impending abortion, weak contractions, and as a mild sedative.
ps the effects/side effects have been well documented for 3000 yrs...
wonder what theyll be saying about zoloft, zyprexa, and the like 3000 yrs from now...?

I say it should be legal by prescription only, I know they have marinol but late stage cancer and aids victims dont want to have to swallow even more pills when they have a hard enough time keeping food down as it is, there should be an alternative to this and maybe go more along into putting THC into a nasal spray or something simliar to make it easier to control and easier for people suffering to take without being thrown into a pothead category, which I know some people dont want to smoke illegal drugs because thats how they have always been known.
But I do think they should be prescription only for now, as most of the country cannot handle full legalization, they cant even handle using alcohol in moderate dosages.

Absolutely; MS, Cancer, AIDS patients would all benefit from marijuana use. Personally I feel that the government should make it legal for all. If it were legal then farmers could grow it for not only people to smoke, but for all the other numerous uses of the hemp plant. Besides if legal the government could tax it and make money for schools and other programs. It would also take it out of the hands of criminals.

Yes, it helps people with all the afflictions above plus it cures anorexia. Yeah, some people could buy it with a prescription, but just use it to get high, but there are other legal drugs that can be abused this way, that are more dangerous than cannabis. You can assume that Drakos is apposed to legalizing it because she is one of the many people who earn a living selling it.

If it helps someone with a medical condition it should be legal.
Alcohol is what should be illegal. I say legalize marijuana.
