Any particular kind of music? Well, here are some ideas.

www.purevolume.com - The most reliable and fastest of all music sites, in my experience. PurePicks and PurePromos are a great way to discover new music.

www.myspace.com - Their player isn't as good as Purevolume's, and their interface is harder to navigate because the site isn't laid out with music in mind. But, more people know about it so more musicians have Myspaces than Purevolumes.

www.garageband.com - If you're looking for underground music, this is the place. Small underground artists post songs to be scored by listeners.

There are, of course, all kinds of nefarious file sharing programs out there, such as the one available at www.limewire.com, but I can't in good conscience condone anyone using programs like that. So... don't go to www.limewire.com to download music for free. Whatever you do.

Pandora. You can put in the criteria for the type of music you want, and make your own radio stations. They won't play 'requests', you can't ask for a specific song and they play it right away, but if you set up your radio station properly it will play the type of music you like. If they play one that you don't like, you can just skip it, or you can tell them never to play it again. It's at http://www.pandora.com.
