I meet a Nigerian girl back in October 2006 and we got very friendly to the point of her wanting to joint me in the USA. I have sent her all of the cash for the Visa/pass port and the plan ticket to travel. At once, she will not travel because she said she will need Basic Travel Allowance. The consulate is asking for $3000.00. Any help would be appreciated.

There is absolutely no such thing as BTA. My Nigerian girlfriend has visited me 2 x in the Philippines, and 2 x in Germany in the past 12 months, and there is NO SUCH THING AS A BTA. She only had about USD 100 bucks in her pocket all four times when she left.

Sorry bud, you're being had. Three grand is a year's salary for a college grad in Lagos.

Check with the US Dept of Immigration, they will tell you that there is no such requirement from the US side, and believe me there is no such thing at the Nigerian end.

Im not sure but my sister and her husband have been saving for almost a year to travel their family to nigeria to see his relatives. Flights alone can cost over £500 (return) but once you are actually there if you have your accomodation sorted (eg friends/family) then the rest of spending money will be quite low because nigeria is relatively cheap! Good luck!
