I worked with a Taiwan navy Commander a few years ago. His name was Chang Wi Le. I don't think his last name meant BRITISH.
Nguyen (pronounced NUWENG...with the U&W amost running together... at least in the Mekong delta area of S. Viet Nam)is Vietnamese for PRAYER when used as a girl's FIRST name. It sounds a bit different from the surname Nguyen. It is the most common SURNAME in Viet Nam (like our SMITH) and I'm sure the original meaning of that surname has been lost. How do I know? I'm an in-country Viet Nam vet and had daily contact with the locals. Binh an!

Logan - It's a type of brook/creek in Ireland. My last name is from my adoptive dad, so it's not from my ancestry. My ancestors - Native American and French.. a tiny bit of British and Irish. But hardly enough to matter. I love my last name and heritage!

I hate to say it, but you're wrong on about 99% of those. For example, Mc or Mac means "of the - clan". "De" is a European prefix for "of", and was used to denote the village or town that an aristocratic family was ruler of. Any name ending in "-kins" means "little", ans in Tompkins= Little Tom, or son of Tom.
