DO NOT USE POETRY.COM! I do not for the life of me understand why people STILL recommend this scam company! No legitimate person in the industry will have anything to do with this company, and listing them as a publishing credit will get you laughed at!

First, determine what your goal is. If your goal is just to have folks read your poems, you can post them on a blog or myspace page.

If your goal is to actually have your poems see publication, there are plenty of magazines and webzines that publish poetry. Writer's Digest, The Writer, and Poets & Writers all have large databases of publishers.

Read the publishers' guidelines, get an understanding of the TYPE of poetry they publish, and submit accordingly. Don't submit a love sonnet to a journal of Haiku, for example. Or don't submit a goth vampire poem to a Christian magazine.

And remember, money flows TOWARD the writer. You should never pay for the priveledge of seeing your work in print. Publishers should pay you, either in money, in complimentary copies, or in some other form of compensation that is appropriate. For example, some small webzines don't pay in money, but do allow the poet to include links to their personal webpages with their listing, or plug upcoming projects.

You can send a copy to the publishing company random house i like the way they do things. Then you can set up a website of your own and post all your poems on there.
Mind sending me one?
I want to see what you wrote!
Thanks=D

Try submitting to The Verse Marauder.

Try poetry.com, just don't fall for the book they want you to buy. Also, FYI - once printed, any poem is copywrited to YOU.
