Look no further!!! I MUST recommend a book called "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal", by Christopher Moore. It tells "the story" of Christ as a child and teenager, and it is HILARIOUS! You'll laugh out loud, guaranteed, and it's so much fun to read, you'll breeze through it quickly. The author did a great deal of research too, so it's as historically accurate as he could make it, while still being a fun read. ENJOY!!!

I liked The Book of Eleanor. It's about Eleanor of Aquitaine, who lived in the 1100s (I think), and was a very powerful figure in both France and England.

"Gates of Fire" by Steven Pressfield (http://www.amazon.com/Gates-Fire-Novel-Battle-Thermopylae/dp/055338368X/sr=1-1/qid=1171554744/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-3463429-1493239?ie=UTF8&s=books) is the story of the Battle of Thermopylae as told by a dying Spartan warrior. It's also about life in Sparta and Greece in general.

"I, Claudius" by Robert Graves (http://www.amazon.com/Claudius-Autobiography-Tiberius-D-International/dp/067972477X/sr=1-1/qid=1171554818/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-3463429-1493239?ie=UTF8&s=books) is the fictionalized biography of the Roman Emperor Claudius, who limped and had a speech defect and survived because everyone thought he was an idiot, yet he survived coups, assassinations and Caligula to become Emperor. It's an amazing book and I had trouble putting it down. Lots of action, politics, intrigue and drama.

Try any of Gore Vidal's historical novels: BURR, 1876, or LINCOLN. All very readable, and you'll learn a bit about history, also.
