I have a friend who has an ex-boyfriend and an ex-husband. She makes about $2000 a month for the children she has with them. She helped make the children she should help pay also? I think many woman use pregnancy as a source for making money.

Anyone who thinks women have babies to "make money" needs their head read.

And any silly girl who actually has a baby to be a source of income needs a serious reality check.

Children cost FAR MORE money that they will ever earn you, trust me, be the income from welfare or child support.

And the primary caregiver does pay for the children, it may not be in cash all the time, but it will be in lots of other ways.

Pregnancy may be a way of making money in your eyes, but the kids don't live on fresh air, they have to be fed, clothed, kept healthy, educated, and entertained - and NONE of that come cheap.

Has anyone ever showed you how much it actually costs to raise a baby, from conception to adulthood? And there's not just the actual cost, there's what they call the "opportunity cost" - that is, the lost earning capacity of the parent who has to take care of the kids on a day to day basis when they could be out working and earning more than they receive in welfare checks and child support.

Do you have a child or two to raise? Do you know how much it actually costs? Think about it before you pass judgement.

I'm not sure.. but I do know that when I have my baby (May 28) I am planning on living on the child support for awhile. The baby's father left me when we found out I was pregnant, and I have been paying for everything so far, all the maternity and prenatal care. I want to stay home with the baby for as long as I can... so I will not be working for awhile. I feel that since I have to be a single mother raising a newborn I should be able to stay home with her while he pays.

I am however, not having the baby for the support, I will just be using it until the baby is about 6 months old, and then get a job.

Um the women do pay they are the ones looking after the kids and suppourting them. What you want the woman to pay the men for leaving them wioth a child?
If the guy makes the baby and then decides to leave, it is his responsiblity to help financially. Why does the woman have to pay for everything. Generally child suppourt isnt that much, just enough to pay for diapers or formula. If the man makes a lot of money than the amount he has to pay goes up. Which is fair enough. If he can afford to give more money he should.
The child suffers if the father doesnt pay child suppourt as it is the one missing out on things it needs. It is hard to be a single Mum and provide everything that your child needs. If the father can help and give enough money to pay for clothes or food or nappies then he should.
But child suppourt works both ways. For Fathers that raise children by themselves the woman has to pay child suppourt.
Its fair whoever walks out on the child, has a duty to be financially responsible for the child.

Not all women are like that. When my ex and I split all I asked for was $200 a month for 2 kids, and half of medical expenses. He had them one week and I had them one week so I felt that was fair. But children are extremely costly and some women don't make near as much as the man does so they need more help, I was just lucky that I made lots of money.

where do you live? where i am that is not the case. my best friend gets child support, but only about $500/month and only because the father makes big bucks AND has to make up back child support. my other best friend doesn't get ANY child support, the only help she gets is that the father pays half the kid's tuition & half of the med. bills.
