It did when I served in the Corps and I still feel that way. When I hear that radical terrorists will make this whole planet one Islamic state, I just think to myself that I would rather die many times over before I dishonor the US and all the servicemen and women that have died for this country and so that we can post these questions freely.

"Death before Dishonor" has almost always been exclusively confined to military circles for very good reason.

If that philosophy was held by government's throughout the world, there wouldn't be a world left to live in.

So I think your question breaks down when one realizes that "Death before Dishonor" has never been the prevailing opinion.

It's a travesty that people are doing honorable work in Iraq but they don't have the equipment or support they need and there's no reasonable goals to work towards.

If I felt like the "war on terrorism" was working, that it was really accomplishing what needs to be done, I wouldn't complain about it. But it's a crying shame that people on both sides are dying for no good reason--if we have no plan for success, how will we know when we've achieved it? What kind of death toll will we rack up if we just let people die with no clear objective and no end in sight?

I love my country. I hate to see citizens die because our leader is so stubborn and stupid about war, and I'm not being unpatriotic to say it. If the leader's bad for the country, then it's unpatriotic to support him. Patriotism means throwing the bums out! Throw out those who are hurting our soldiers and our country and our reputation.

I exercise my right to free speech by complaining when I see the president doing something wrong. Your idea of patriotism needs some serious adjustment.
