Pumping Accelerator prior to starting car - Fuel Injection.?

Question

I've been trying to tell my mother that she doesn't NEED to pump the accelerator prior to starting the vehicle because it's fuel injected. She never stopped doing it since they don't make automobiles with carburetors anymore.

Is this doing something bad to the engine? It's a 2003 Toyota Camry w/ 17000 miles and it doesn't sound too good!

It doesn't do squat, because fuel injection does not have the accelerator pump that a carburetor has, which squirts fuel into the intake manifold when you pump the gas pedal.

If shes pressing the pedal while cranking its injecting more fuel than the engine needs on start up and washing the Cyl. Meaning no oil on the Cyl walls as the piston and ring travel up and down. This causes wear on the Cyl wall Not good. If she keeps her foot on the gas after it starts with no oil pressure for the first few seconds again no good . With no oil pressure right away and engine rev high Bearing in the engine wear very fast.
Just turn the key to start the car let it run for30 seconds to build up oil pressure then away you go

gas injected engines do no longer require this.. in elementary words carburated autos require pumping the excellerator to commence the engine. you may want to in-advertantly flood the engine.
