It seems to me that if a horse and a donkey can mate to make a mule then a gorrilla and orangutang or chimpanzee and some other monkey should be able to as well. I'm not sure. And if they can what are the new animals called. Could the same thing apply to monkeys?

It all depends on the chromosomes. It does not matter if horses and donkeys make mules. Scientists do not even consider mules a new species because they are infertile.

No. They are different species.

A few (very closely related) species can produce hybrids (mules and ligers), but they are the exception, not the rule.

Gorillas and orangutans cannot reproduce a viable offspring.
