Oh yes.I recently experienced this with my garage door as it was opening. First I heard a kerplunk and thought "What was that?" THAT was a huge bolt flying off and hitting the driveway. Then the door went kaput. Looked kind of sad hanging sideways only half open.
There was another kerplunk shortly thereafter. That was me plunking down a major wad of cash. Then kaput. That was the sound of my checking account taking it's last breath.

That sounds like one of those 'Uh Oh!' moments. I have had a few of them. I was re-assembling my @#$%^ futon. I had just got the last bolt in place and I heard this ominous 'kerplunk...rattle, rattle, rattle....' I began to wildly fish with my hand, down the furnace vent. 'NOOOOO!' It couldn't be, I lost the nut to keep the bolt in place. Without that nut that darn thing would surely wiggle loose and collapse when I had company. I could see the headlines in the next days newspaper. Freaky Futon Falls Flat as Company Collapses and Calls Cops! Without that nut, my days of entertaining were 'kaput!'

No it always seems to skip, the kerplunk part. And goes straight to the keput part....
