I've been getting "anonymous" e-mails from someone. I say anonymous because they use a fake name. I even tried looking them up on MySpace (because everyone has a MYSpace account) but have had no success in finding out who they are. I've been corresponding with this person for over a month, trying to figure out who they are and still have found no clues as to who they are. The reason why I am so adament about finding out who this person is, is because they are writing to me hurtful things and are making malicious aligations against my husband (which by the way I don't believe). They seem to know alot about myself, him and my daughter.... so I know that it's someone who knows us. How can I find out who this mystery person is?

simple. check the full header of the email they have sent you to get their IP address. then do a traceroute (tracert) with the address and this will tell you where the messages are being sent from and possibly the name given to the computer. you may be able to get a fairly good idea as to who the person is with this information. if you need more help with any of this, go ahead and say so in the "additional details" section

A) I don't have a Myspace account
B) Believe it or not but trying to find the identity of a person via email / the Internet is now illegal. Stupid but the truth, it counts as invasion of privacy.

However all is not in vain, you can:

↓ Email Customer services, for Yahoo go to the homepage for Hotmail email abuse@hotmail.com. You will be sent an instant auto message to prove the message was sent.

↓ Block the user and report then for bad content

↓ Ring the Police / Cops - Provide evidence

I hope this helps.

well they are somebody who definitely knows you then. thats obvious.ummm..... make a different e-mail address and pretend your someone else that they dont know. ask them a/s/l. be like "my friend gave me ur e-mail address , so i would like to talk and get to know you " that way u can find out if they are a guy or girl and who they are. if they r a guy, be the girl. if its a girl, be a "guy" play along. find out. then through ur regular e-mail confront them THAT U KNOW who they r but dont let them know about ur other e-mail ( fake ) address
