Look to see if they're carrying a pen and paper and if they write anything down; there's also a good chance that a customer is a mystery shopper if they keep glancing at their watch, or if they're carrying a stopwatch; they also might ask questions that you might consider "dumb" like what time your store closes, or how much an item is that's already on the menu, or where the bathroom is; they may also special order something if you're in a restaurant, like order something with no onions, or without ketchup; you might find them squinting at you or your co-workers, trying to read your name tag, or they may ask you for your name if you're not wearing one; they'll probably check out the bathroom too. Those are some of the things I would be asked when I used to do mystery shopping.
