Of course it is. A day devoted to materialism, like pretty much every holiday, and the exchange of material goods for love/sex. Happy Legalized Prostitution Day, America!

Of course, in all seriousness, what reason and motivations one finds in any day, personally, are for one to decide on one's own. More people should think for themselves, rather than mindlessly conforming to the "It's this day, so I'm supposed to do this this and this..." nonsense.

it's a nice gesture, but i really do believe valentines day is a commerical holiday. i mean if you love someone you are going to celebrate your love each and every day, not just one day of the year. i don't know -- that's just my opinion.
