They are under a 40 or 60 watt light. From the looks of it, there are a hundred or more in the tank. There are some very small triops in the tank that look like they just hatched. Some swim like they are going up and down, while others swim around like a fish would and they look sort of like little oblong balls. They are in a one litre tank (I think that's how big it is). Thanks.

that is a lot of triops! triops will live for about 1 month and a half depending on how well you care for them. normally, the bigger triops will eat the smaller triops and they will get bigger. they also shed their shell so if you think you see a dead triop,it may be its skin. they should get bigger, you could start to feed them fish food or you could try a slice of skinned carrot. i hope my info has helped and that your triops get bigger.

Growing Triops

Probably too small a tank so they've been stunted, insufficient food considering the competition in your tank. I had maybe 5 in a 5 gallon tank for about 4 months and they got to be 2+ inches long before they died.

Triops don't grow much and don't last long. Consider yourself lucky that so many hatched. There isn't enough food or oxygen for so many. In nature, they don't last long. You should read the booklet that came with the kit. They hatch, grow up,lay eggs in the mud and die. Eventually the stream they live in dries up and maybe, many years later, when water retutns to the dried-out stream the eggs hatch.
