The answer is no, not without a major cultural change.
Chinese electronics suck
No one here can find a job they are so scarce - too many people employ
Intelligence??? you've never been here. Most of them can't think for themselves, they are too culturally locked into acting as a group.
Auto's - not any time soon. Half the autos I see are import brands made domestically, which also means import design. You never see important people in domestic cars.
missles??? you really think they have more (and better) missles than the US?
Weapons??? that's just dumb

One of the other answerers had it right, China doesn't make innovation. There is absolutely no innovation here at all. Even educating these kids is hard because they all feel that everything is beneath them and their culture has reached is ultimate form. The US has one of the biggest edges in the world market because it is full of innovators, it's one of the things we do in America is figure out how to do things better and we do it probably better than any other country (in general. Specifics might get a little dicey).

In the case of technology, the US thinks is up and send it to China to be made. Japan then takes the product and refines it to it's best potential, then sends it back to China to be made again.

The possibility is always there, but without some major cultural shifts it will not happen. The Chinese are an even larger population of consumers than the US, they just don't have the money to do it as badly.

Our position is being weakened by the liberal drive to punish initiative and reward idleness. Taxing those that work hard and earn big bucks so the money can be wasted on entitlement programs weakens our country. Buying votes with food stamps and cheap housing is not the way to improve this country. China handles entitlement programs differently. They have large corporations that are not heavily taxed. The people still use family ties to survive. Back in the depression days and prior to 1960 families filled in weak spots not Uncle Sam. That was while we still had respect for the family and it's place in our society. Today the democrats only want entitlement programs to keep lazy people pacified.

Not without our inventors eh?
It takes all kinds to make up this world, a team effort! And they would be ignorant to worry about surpassing us when that is silly?
The goal should be to help and improve on their country and peope? Not play King of the Empires! Duh?
Economically they were never a strong system? But then they need to develop an understanding of the needs of other cultures?
Being isolated is not good for world development so they are now trying, and recently they were in Africa trading but they were not happy with the situation? Duh? They really need to get out more? ha ha

your question and your examples aren't completely relative.

You asked if China would surpass american technology.
electronics.... you say yes.. but all china does is simply mass produce american technology. It isnt Chinese technology.

Just as Japan as been known for doing. Innovation occurs in the USA but instead of developing it we ship it off somewhere else where they refine it and manufacture it.

That is an issue certainly.

With Clinton no longer in the White House to give it to them, it may take a little longer, but Madame Hillary is in line for the job. If she gets it, who knows?

No. Their population is aging very quickly thanks to mao's Great Leap Forward followed quickly by 1 child per couple. They are going to have their hands full with very few workers to support a bunch of old folks.
