The question SHOULD read "What is the next number in this sequence?"


Convert each letter in the question to a number, making A=1, B=2, etc. through Z=26.

"What" becomes 23+8+1+20, thus 52
"is" becomes 9+19, thus 28
"the" becomes 20+8+5, thus 33

keep going until "this" becomes 20+8+9+19, thus 56

"sequence" becomes 19+5+17+21+5+14+3+5, thus 89

so 89 is the next number.

This is a really hard one, especially so, since the question has to be restated to make it the answer to the classic question.
