This computer does not take the 512MB chip that I bought for it, it would only take two chips of 128 each, can anybody help me with putting the new 512MB-ROM chip to work.

Ram, not rom. If your computer can be upgraded to a max of 512MB of ram and it has two slots, each slot can only handle a max of 256MB.

Hehehehehehehehehehehehe. ROM. Are you sure? You can't add ROM. Maybe RAM. ROM is Read Only Memory. It's a chip in your PC that's soldered to the board. Anyways if your PC can only take 256 MB then that's all it'll take. Also make sure that your 512 MB is compatible with your pc. The best way is to go to crucial.com. You can search for compatible RAM.

That's RAM not ROM.

If the board will only take 2 128s, that's what it will take. Check the board (or computer) manufacturer website and check for upgrade information to see what sort of memory it takes. If it's a store-bought name-brand computer, I think staples.com or officedepot.com has a memory wizard that will tell you what it needs.

it should work - do you get an error message or a long beep when booting up your system with the new card? A long beep means bad Ram as in you did not buy compatible Ram for your Motherboard. This is common problem but may not be the correct answer in your case.

ok, obviously you only have two slots. make sure your computer is compatable with the stick of ram. if it has 2 slots. and u find the ram compatible with it, you could have two 512 sticks in there and ur computer will have a total of 1024mb of ram. if u dont know what is compatible call a local computer store, or call the brand of ur comoputer "ex: dell" or a computer show. they will tell u if its compatible. good luck

the issue might be because of the compatibility of your mother board and your memory.
