I know what the hold button at the top does. I have a second generation Ipod nano and it seems to be in a lock because pressing buttons doesn't do anything. I didn't touch the hold button. I was just trying to turn it off and something happened where the song flashed a few times and now its on and won't turn off. Any suggestions on how to unlock it?

Do you mean it froze? If so, Hold the menu and the centre buttons together at the same time for 3-4 seconds and it'll reset itself without loosing any of your data.

First make efficient the "lock" change isn't on(must be on the properly or bottom fringe of Ipod) and if that would not artwork then carry down the middle button and correctly button mutually for more beneficial or less thirty seconds .
