I think it's because they feel guilty about committing things they consider "sins", so they want to put others down for something they DON'T do, or something many people consider wrong.

Like, think about this: I think cheating is a horribly wrong thing to do, especially in a marriage. But a whole lotta people do it. So they say, well, at least I'm not GAY!!!

It's a logical fallacy. It's called ad hominem (attack against the person.) It's a fallacy to try to shift blame away from yourself to make the other person look more guilty by comparison.

If you do something wrong, you're wrong. You won't be less wrong just because you say, well, this person's gay, this person's another race, this person's an illegal immigrant, this person had an abortion...nope! Doesn't work that way! Even if you could prove that those things are wrong (which they aren't), it still wouldn't work to say that somebody else did something worse than you, so you're not wrong anymore.

They're using a logical fallacy to make themselves feel less guilty. But it makes their argument invalid if it includes a fallacy.

(A fallacy is an "objection" in a court case, BTW.)

Some people are simply very fearful of the concept that a person may not be attracted to the "right" gender, or they may simply swear by the Bible.

Some "homophobes" that I have met are simply reacting off of the type of upbringing they had. Their parents were against LGBT people, and obviously put them down in their own home, and as they aged their opinion of LGBT people became that of their parents. A certain woman that I know has made it a point to prohibit all LGBT people from entering her church. They aren't allowed to teach summer school or attend mass. Another person I know left a church because they refused to get rid of a gay pastor. Its discrimination and its completely unjustified. I, for one, don't understand how one can discriminate a person simply because biologically they cannot have a sexual relations with the opposite gender.

Beyond people being fearful of LGBTs for one reason or another, others simply adopt the ideas of the Bible. Apparently in Luke and Leviticus (I may have the books wrong...) it states that LGBT people are sinful, etc. In my ideas, it simply seems that the Catholic Church didn't know how to handle the small portion of the population that didn't find any attraction in the opposite sex and labeled it sinful. I don't understand it particularly, but that's why I am not a male celibate priest!

I don't put others down, so my feelings are perfectly fine. But, it really hurts me when others don't have the courtesy to love and respect me as a person because my partner doesn't have facial hair.

I am against same sex relationships because God said they were wrong. I don't know how my feelings could have been hurt by this, but homosexuality is wrong, just like a lot of things are wrong.

People will always be against what they do not understand. There are some people that can be educated and made to understand that it is normal, but there are others who have been brainwashed into thinking that it is wrong for so many years, that they will never change and do not want to change their thinking.

Most of the people who are so fiercely opposed to same sex relationships are insecure enough in their own sexuality to feel threatened by them. Simple as that. Of course, the same ignorance that gives one any kind of prejudice is a factor, as well. Most of the people with this prejudice try to make excuses for it, by fabricating damage supposedly done by same sex relationships. And then, of course, you have the religious types who have it in their heads that allowing homosexuals to marry will somehow destroy our society and turn all of the country's children into pedophile rapist serial killers. It's all about people denying reality, in favor of what they want reality to be, and making excuses for baseless prejudice and hatred, rather than trying to overcome it.

Because it doesn't seem natural or normal to most heterosexual people. And their world is sometimes curious, or questionable. There's still some adverse reasons or questionable reasons why some people are like that. Some GLBT give you the impression that they are like that out of trauma or a negative attitude toward the opposite sex.

Answering the first of your two part question. Because they simply don't understand the truth about sexual orientation. And that is simply that your sexual orientation is fixed at birth and there is no way that it can ever be changed. Some of the protestant religions have claimed that they can change a person's s/o. However, those that they have "changed", have in all cases, reverted back to the way they were in the first place.

I'm against it 100%. It will cause health problems. As you know the average gay person's life expectancy is very low due to the health risk and the unclean life style. That's why God strongly condemed such a filthy life-style that breeds disease, as we see in aides. Up to 1969 the life-style was considered a mental illness, due to polictical pressure it was changed, but it doesn't change the fact that the life-style or mental illness is wrong.

Have a wonderful day!!
