I currently have a sony Vaio, but the FPS is really slow on counter strike source, the graphics card I have at the moment is Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 with 128mb. If possible I'd like to buy one second hand for less than £50, any sugguestions on what to get?

cheers

don't listen to these computer illiterates. you have a NOTEBOOK and not a desktop PC. the graphics card (Intel GMA 900) is integrated in the chipset and CAN NOT be replaced. Also the mobo hasn't a slot for an additional graphics card, therefore you stuck with the GMA900.
the most notebooks aren't suitable for gaming.

p.s.
you mean upgrading the memory of the graphics card?
the GMA900 has no dedicated ram but shares it with the main memory, so you had to upgrade the main memory. but this wouldn't help a lot because the graphics engine remain the same and that is simply too slow for all the sophisticated games.

I don't know the sys requirements for CS:Source and I don't own the game and have never played it. But any card will be better than your GMA 900. For $100, you could probably get a used 7600GT or X1650 Pro, or even a new one with rebates.

Edit: A GMA 900 isn't always a laptop chipset- they make them for desktop motherboards as well. But since you have a laptop, there is nothing you can do. Increasing the size of your shared video memory will do nothing.

Yup I agree, Newegg.com. I bought the x1600 pci-e for $115. Smoked Cs Source and HL2. Even Oblivion. But, they were 512MB cards too. :) Not bad for $115.
Wait, corrction. Laptops. Sorry too much to upgrade. Good Luck

well u would not want a cheap graphics card because it takes quite a lot of memory and graphic memory to run any like that... i would say at a minimum 256mb graphics card. NVIDIA is a good brand.

Any standalone card would do. Go to newegg.com and look for Radeon x700, get x1300 if you can afford it. Those cards come in PCI-E interface, make sure your computer has that slot. If not go for a PCI card or VGA

Correction: That doesnt apply if your computer is a laptop. Im not sure if Sony VAIO still make desktop computers but i owned one 6 years ago :)
