Good job you just said it. You made her feel like ****, by giving her that for Valentines, nice! So she doesn't cook, you should have bought her a cooking book to go w/the can opener. Try to make some meals with her, so she can start learning how to cook, & try counseling. It sounds as if she is keeping somethings inside, and both of you need to let some stuff out. I'm sure you will get what you want for Valentines?

well i would be pissed too. no girl wants to get a can opener on Valentines day, we would rather have a $3 rose than that. Its not how much you spend on something, its what it is and the meaning behind it. With a can opener you are pretty much saying, get your *** in the kitchen and cook. but with a rose you are telling her that you love her, in a cheap and meaningful way. Now you might need a dozen roses and some good chocolates, and maybe even a teddy bear to fix the mess. Just take back the can opener and get her that. Jes

She is Probobly angry because she doesn't feel that a can opener says "I love you" very well. maybe she feels your gift is putting off more of a "hey babe, would you cook me something to eat? rather than the I can't live without you statement she was looking for." the whole world has got women thinking that their guy has got to spend 2 grand on a ring on valintines day to show that you love her.
If you want to fix it do something like this...
Humble yourself and tell her you are sorry and you were only trying to get her something that she can use every day. Help her understand your intentions were to make her life easier and then tell her you want to make this day special for her and then ask exactly this question "what can I do to show you that I love you?"
That will melt her heart of stone that she has right now, she just might realize that she is overreacting and looking at things all wrong and you will be able to salvage this day. Good Luck!!

so maybe for valentines you could cook for her? a meal and a few well chosen words in a crd would have gone down sooo much better. and would have cost you a lot less! your girlfriend is mad as she probably feels a little insulted the can opener screams you cant cook or you belong in the kitchen whereas some flowers or a card would have said i love you. how is your cooking? maybe you could cook up some new recipes to cook together? good luck.

If you bought me a can opener for a holiday where you're supposed to be romantic, I'd use it to open up a nice can of three-years-expired food and then serve it to you, and see how you'd like that 'romantic' valentine's day dinner. Maybe I'd spell JERK out with alphabet soup, too. Then I'd buy you a frilly apron for your gift.
The least you could've done was given her something else that was cute or romantic alongside the lame 'gift'. Maybe then she'd be less pissed. I don't blame her. Damn, I wouldn't be surprised if you're minus one girlfriend in a few days.

let's think for a minute. why on earth would she possibly be mad at you for that? hmm... that's a toughie. perhaps because on Valentine's Day, you're supposed to be showing someone how much you love them, not how terrible they are at something. seriously though, if you want to turn this around so that she doesn't hold this against you forever, call her up, tell her that was just a joke, and the real gift is coming. then proceed to take her out to a nice dinner and shower her with compliments the entire evening. then you have about 2 days to present her with a REAL gift.

and your wondering why shes made at you thats more of a house warming gift valentines day is supposed to be a romantic day and giving her that ridiculous gift is horrible i think every girl would be mad if you gave them that i bet she gave you hints bout what she wanted but you werent listening maybe next time you should listen or ask she was probably expecting jewelry or a bear or something else so apologize and one thing you need to realize is that the girl is always right even if shes really wrong its sad but its true buy her something that shell actually like and tell her that you realized that she was right and you were wrong and more

Oh my! Well, the thought does count, but you should have given it to her on an average day as a random present. Girls like something romantic on Valentine's Day, not to be reminded of her shortcomings! Tomorrow or this weekend take her out to a nice dinner, since you both shouldn't be in the kitchen til she cools down.

Boy your silly. A can opener for Valentines day isnt very sweet. It doesnt matter if she cant cook. You could have bought her cook books or something besides a damn can opener! Go buy her flowers tomorrow if you know whats good for ya!

i have no idea. maybe she was expecting flowers or soemthing. i would be completely happy with a can opener. flowers would die in a few days anyway, so a can opener is practical and isnt going to stop being useful. also, that shows that you put alot of thought into what you got her because its not the same thing that everyone always gets. people make no sense.
