Yes roper is a perfectly good product. Roper, like Estate, Inglis, Kitchenaid and even the almighty Kenmore are all divisions of the whirlpool corporation. Roper is generally considered a "no frills" entry level product. However, their top load laundry is made on the same assembly line as more traditional name brand Whirlpool and Kenmore appliances using most of the same parts. They use the same motor and transmissions for example. Generally it is the drum type and the control panel that differentiated them. Have a look at consumer reports and I think you will be surprised how well this "discount brand" stacks up. Just make sure it has the features that you need because often the products will not have a softener dispenser or a 2 speed motor that facilitates the gentle/delicate cycle.

Consumer Search Top Rated
Whirlpool WTW5500S (*est. $400)

>> Where to buy Conventional top-loading washer.Despite all the ads on TV for expensive front-loading washers, about three out of four people prefer conventional top-loading washing machines. Reviews say the Whirlpool WTW5500S cleans well and is easy to use. This model has a 3.2-cubic-foot wash tub, five wash/spin combinations and ten automatic cycles. Rotary dials instead of electronic controls help keep costs low, and historically, Whirlpool washers have been more reliable in the long term than washing machines from Maytag, Amana or KitchenAid.
