I am asking this question in Yahoo answers b/c I was wondering if there is any folklore or mythology tied to dreaming about being pregnant and actually concieving. I know I could ask a doctor , I am more concerned with mythology or folklore of these types of dreams. Thank you

if you are trying to concieve your daily thoughts invade the dreamscape...though when i was about 7 or 8 and i was trying to learn how to ride a bicycle, i had a dream that i learned how to ride, and the next day i was riding on my own, just like in the dream. but i've also dreamed of falling, drowning, wrecking a car, getting into firefights, and none of that happened. sometimes, and i said SOME times, the time is right and it is time and your higher conciousness tells you so in your dreams.

Dream interpretations for:

Pregnant
To dream that you are pregnant, symbolizes an aspect of yourself or some aspect of your personal life that is growing and developing. You may not be ready to talk about it or act on it. This may also represent the birth of a new idea, direction, project or goal.

If you are really pregnant and having this dream, then it represents your anxieties about the pregnancy. Women in the first trimester of their pregnancy tend to dream of tiny creatures, fuzzy animals, flowers, fruit and water. In the second trimester, dreams will reflect your anxieties about being a good mother and concerns about possible complications with the birth. Dreams of giving birth to a non-human baby are also common during this period of the pregnancy. Finally, in the third trimester, dreams consists of your own mother. As your body changes and grows, dreams of whales, elephants and dinosaurs and other larger animals may also start appearing at this stage.

Having A Baby
To dream that you or someone is having a baby, suggests that you are giving birth to a new idea or project. It also represents new beginnings or some upcoming event. A more direct interpretation of this dream, may represent your desires/ anxieties of giving birth or the anticipation for such an event to occur.

If you are convienced that you are pregnant, than your body will start acting as if you really are pregnant. But you could also go to google and type in Dreams and their meanings, and then find out what it means. But like you, I love studying folklore and dreams. I have a ton of stuff about dreams, just not with me right now, if I did have it with me I would tell you what Pregnant means.

No, this means that you are looking forward to finding out you are pregnant.

If you weren't trying to get pregnant, and it wasn't something that was so on your mind, I would say that your dream is telling you that someone close to you is going to pass away. (It's odd, but pregnancy/birth means death and death means a pregnancy/birth. Also, a funeral means a wedding and vice versa)

Dreams are a link between yourself and your subconscious. This is a fact. Also a fact is that there are certain symbols that are constants throughout our culture. If you study these symbols and their meanings, you can find a greater insight into your dreams, and therefore into your subconscious mind.

I hope that this has helped.

Myth speaking- it usually means someone you know is pregnant.
However, if you were thinking about it, it makes sense that you dreamed about it. If the dream came out of nowhere ask around. Could be fun!

Well, it could be. Your brain knows more about it than you do.

You just have to decide the source that's influencing your brain. Is it pregancy or your strong desire to be pregnant?

You should know within a few weeks when your body begins to show signs other than just dreams.

I don't think so. Your brain just thinks about one main topic when in the 'Sleep Zone'. Since you probably think about this alot, and it's probably something important to you, I think that your brain just picked up where you left off when you drifted off to sleep.
