Holy Crap someone actually made this claim...

"The problem with global warming is that it keeps on getting warmer. When the oceans start to boil, maybe you can figure out why that would be a bad thing.

Edit: Yes, a boiling ocean. The surface temperature on Venus is 800 degrees because of runaway greenhouse effect. Water boils at 212 degrees. Maybe a little hotter for salt water. "

And people wonder why others are skeptical.

Theoretically, enough global warming could cause the oceans to boil. However, humans would all be dead long before this started happening, and with no people left it is likely that temperatures would settle to their normal levels over the next few thousand years without ever reaching the point at which the oceans would boil. It would take more than just driving too many SUVs to boil the Earth's oceans.

I cannot believe any person would have been foolish enough to make such an assertion. Does he/she realize what would be required to cause the sea to boil?

Venus' atmosphere is 97% CO2. Ours is less than one one-hundredth of a percent CO2.

Venus is also much closer to the sun than Earth is.

Venus also spins much more slowly on its axis.
