God, I know how stupid a questions this sounds.... but I have a friend who SWEARS she's able to predict weather storms b/c she is from the Seneca Nation. ???? (She actually DID correctly predict a huge storm in October MONTHS in advance... to the date! Creepy, right?)

Some of us can, and some of us can't. To accurately predict the weather, one must be in tune with nature. More specifically, the animals are the key. Dogs and cats will start acting strange days before an earthquake hits. Spiders will weave a tight web before it turns windy. If you live miles inland from the ocean and you see sea birds flying over head, a bad storm is coming from that direction. The people that live in Indonesia at the time of the tsunami recalled seeing elephants heading away from the area of the ocean and going up into the hills hours before it hit.
Then there are people not just Native Americans that has arthiritis or rheumatism says that their joints hurt before a rain comes, it's because of the dropping in barometric pressure that signals rain or wet weather. Even the clouds can tell you what the weather is going to be like.This is just some examples.
If we couldn't have known what the weather was going to be like most of the time, we woudln't be here now.

Being Native isn't magic...
That said, there are indicators of pending weather, but months in advance is a bit extreme to be anything but a good guess.

I am a Native woman.
Although there is no way possible for me to know the ways of all Native people and I do not claim to do that. I can say with a fair amount of certainty that she is messing with you!

well my family is mixed with Ojibwe Indians.. and my mom is have and my grandma is full blooded... and they both watch the news like every one else....

i dunno ... older people are pretty good at it to .. and the ones that are the best at it are the animals ....
