Ed Reed is the best right now

I believe that nowadays safeties need speed. Ed Reed is the fastest out of those players, so I'd pick him just because he covers so much ground. Dawkins is a smart player and thats really what gets him to probowls (dont use probowls as a measurement because its kind of moot) and Troy has alot of upside.

Brian Dawkins would be the Mvp but Ed reed has more skill cuz he is at his prime
Dawkins is a crucial part of the defense and an emotional leader..The defense wouldn't be the same without him. INfact Dawkins was a crucial part in the late run for the eagles...
polamalu ...had 1 good yr..but needs to tackle devin hester first...see probowl

I really like what Ed Reed brings to the table. He is such a difference maker for that team. He can really take over a game single-handedly

Thank you for not including Roy Williams in this group. I can't believe he gets more love from the league than Dawkins does. Gimme a break...

i beleive it is troy polamalu even though out of all those people he has been the least years been pro but if you look at his records he has made it to all the probowls exept his rookie year and he already has as much inerseptions as all the other guys and he has not as much tackles but he is going to be in football for a long time so he is going to probably have more tackles cause he always seem to be there first and with out him i dont think the pittsburgh steelers would have much of a defence yeh they would still have a decent defence but with polamalu it adds a hole different level to any defence he is on and he can even do good at returning kicks but he dosent like to do that because he said he likes to takle people not be tackled.

Troy Polamalu

Ed Reed is the best he makes it almost impossible to throw it deep on the Ravens. Dawkins is an excellent hitter who tears up the middle of the field but is not amazing on deep pass coverage. Troy is a great athlete and is very smart in run and pass coverage but the other two have been around longer.

I'd say Edd Reed is the best with Darren Sharper coming in at second. After that Dawkins then Polamalu.

Gotta go with ED REED!

2004 Defensive Player of the Year
Ravens all time interception leader
Has blocked 4 punts and returned 3 of them for TDs!

The guy can almost single handedly cover one half, if not the entire downfield! Freakish skillz!

ed reed . at miami the coach said he was the best player he has ever coached because ed reed basiclly coached the whole team . plus he can give big hits return punts even though he doesent anymore cover recievers RBS TEs and catches like a reciever. he has the longest pic ever in nfl history defensive player of the year. most interception yards and his strong safety dwan landry is better then polu...whatever . also who has miami coached ray lewis one of the best linebackers ever maybe the best ever. clinton portis , the edge, and micheal irvin
