My female guppy has been pregnant well over 35 days and she still has not popped. I read on the internet that they will quit eating when they are ready to give birth and she eats like its her last meal?? Is there another way or is she going to die?

It should be any day. Some stop eating and some don;t, that's not really a hard and fast rule. Some look a little more "squared off " around their bellies a day or so before giving birth, but others don't. I know that's not a big help to you, but it's really hard to say because not all guppies react the same.

I have a fancy guppy that is prego. Usually when a fish is pregnant, you will see the fry in the momma's stomach. Also there will be a little black dot towards the back of its belly. Your fishies stomach will look "boxy". Alos, the other fish in the tank went after the belly of the prego fish to get at the fry. If you notice these signs put it in a bowl, or a seperate tank. (Guppies are really easy, they have a higher immune system, and dont need filters or heaters.) Keep an eye on it. When you see babies, leave the momma in for two days, and then put her back in the tank. Oh, by the way, guppies will have babies after being about three months old. And most likely will reproduce every 28 days. :) Have fun!

A few days before the fry pop out, you will be able to see the fry's eyes in the female's belly. They will be pairs of small black dots. You might try a flashlight from behind the fish to see better.

On the other hand, if the female is balooned and the scales are raised, she might have dropsy (a catch-all bucket for a bunch of causes with one common symptom: swollen body with raised scales).

I have found that a lot of times, birth can be induced by stressful situations. Many times I have received fish in the mail, and along with the bagged females, there would be fry. You might want to bag your fish for a few hours and see what happens.

Good luck.

Most female dogs who are ready to have puppies usually get pretty mean towards other animals and she should run off.. (if hes loose) and make a nest. u should see her scratching at the area where shes at and laying down.. also some discharge will start to come from her private area.. should be a clear color. but if its only 35 days in so far you still have a while to wait bc it takes about 2 months nd 5 days for the pups to be ready to come!!
