Possum is the short form of opossum. The plural can be either opossums or opossum.

I though the Word was Possum... but Wikipedia says Opossum North America Possum Australia and Asia there a strange animal... I don't say either... we have none =/ But I thought it was Possum... I didn't know what an Opossum was...

Possum is a shortened version of opossum. It originated from the hillbilly vernacular. Opossum is the correct way to say it. Two or more of them are opossums. Any way you say it, they are nasty little creatures! hope this helps

Nope, it's opposum(s). 'possum is just a shorter version, mainly because the initial 'o' vowel is soft and often gets dropped.
