You don't have to spend a lot of money, but, unfortunately, some women expect it. My guy, who is out of the country, sent me a beautiful poem. I will treasure it always. It's that type of gift that makes me happy.

Happy Valentine's Day.

You don't have to spend $100, you just have to do something nice to let her know you thought about her on the day where other people are throwing around cards and flowers and candy and jewelry, etc. I would be happy if my husband got me a single box of chocolate, since he never does anything for Valentine's, that would be a nice surprise.

honestly, i consider Valentine's Day "make up day". iow, it's the day where most guys buy their wives or girlfriends stuff to make up for the time, attention and things they didn't do the year before.

so in answer to your question....no, you don't have to spend a $100 on your wife. you technically don't have to do anything you don't want to do. but if you're treating her special all year 'round, Valentine's Day should be yet one more day when you show your love.

You don't HAVE to spend over $100.00 to prove your love. You can prove it a lot less expensively and be glad about it. Try it.

You don't...it's how creative you are. We think if you spent a lot of time on it we mean more to you than say a 100$ bouquet of roses and chocolates. Surprise her with dinner you cooked and a bottle of her favorite wine or champagne, a candle and a hand-made card... you've hit the jack-pot.

I got an e-card and several phone calls today telling me that I am truly loved and that is all I need. I wouldn't be mad about a box of candy but I wouldn't be mad if I didn't get one either.

If that amount is coming from her, she should rethink her priorities and be thankful that you get her anything at all and that you even remember her on Valentine's Day.

Your marriage is about love, not money.

You don't have to spend that much. I'm sure she would appreciate something from the heart much more than something from your wallet. Remember, today is HUMP day.

If you can't part with $100 to show your wife you love her, then that show you love your money more.
