I just figured it out on my own basically, but my parents were very open about it, so if I did have a question they'd answer me honestly.

I had to figure it out on my own. I was raised in a sheltered Catholic school environment. My brothers threatened any boy that went near me (found it out years later). My mother the nurse, never told me a thing, not even about that time of the month. That was embarrassing, another story.
So, I learned on my own when I lost my virginity, Catholic Girls start much to late, I was that song. Still my Favorite Billy Joel song. How my parents had only 5 kids is amazing, should of had about 30!!
I have always talked openly and honestly about sex with my son. He is very grateful and thinks his mom is cool. He knows it is because of my ignorance as a teenager.

I was 12. My mom handed me a book. End of "discussion" until years later she found my birth control pills. Then it was, "Well, when are you gonna marry this guy?" I was appalled! "Excuse me? Who said anything about marriage??" This was late 60s early 70s - free love and all that, and no such thing as sex-ed in schools yet.
As a result of my own lack of education, I actually TALK to my now teenaged daughter. We have a great relationship and I'm pleased to report she's come to me for answers to her questions, which I answer in open honest discussion. It feels so much better to be able to do this than to muddle through like I did back then!

My mom sat me down at 12 with school literature and to this day I do not know how she had me and my Sib's--she so knows nothing.

me and my neighbor played Dr when i was 7 she was 9 and well lets just say it was a learning experience
