it started when i tried to go from 4th to 3rd then it gradually got worse and now it is starting to do it going from 2nd to 3rd and from 4th t o 3rd ,if i keep trying eventually it will go into 3rd .any help is most welcome. my car audi 1.9 tdi.

sounds like a transmission problem or gear shift ,don't drive it you may have to replace the transmission.

hi not in any respect bypass to a broking deliver till it assure paintings. A broking properly cost you an arm, leg and your first born. Get a second opinion from a diverse keep. perhaps they suggested torque converter? because the transmission has what's call a torque converter, that is what drives the transmission off the motor. certain a Catalytic converter is in the exhaust equipment and has no longer some thing to do with the transmission. solid success tim

is it a steering shift. if steering shift , the bushing on the linkages may have gone. If floor shift , it must be the selector, it can be rebuilt. more it can be brass core bushing inside the gearbox. It can be easily replaced. Just check your location. it maybe cheaper to swap a seconhand gear box. change the cluctch plate/ pressure plate when you take your gearbox off. It will save alot of time as it will reqiure the same amount of time taking it off.

I don't know what year of vehicle you have, but it sounds like the synchrenizers are going bad. This is what helps the gears mesh in each gear at high rpm. Could be from wear from some one hammering third gear too hard.

you have some worn shifting fingers in the tranny. these things never fix themselves and if you continue to drive this car it is only going to cost you a lot more. pay a little now or pay a lot later is true in this case.

Transmission problems, take it to the shop before you tear up your car even more.

Check the tire pressure.
