I am coming up to 2 years since I passed and I always thought I would gain my full 12 points at this point. However someone recently said that because I have 3 points on my licence already, I have to go 2 years without any before this happens. Is this true?

I worded that badly! I mean when does your limit extend from 6 to 12 points?!
I don't want to get nicked and have the points on my licence!

You must not get more than 6 points in the three year period from passing your test. If you do you will have your licence revoked and you will have to resit both the theory/hazard perception tests and the practical driving test at full cost to yourself, best not pick up any more points my friend!!!

are you for real ?
you only get points if you get nicked , 3 at a time , get 12 you lose your licence , if you are a good boy for 3 years they come off and you
start again , OK ?

you get 3 points for 1bald tyre, speeding etc, any points you get will be wiped off after 3 years. doing over 100mph is an instant ban, or getting up to 12 points is a ban also.
