I just want to know if there are checks somewhere for me.

Normally SS will give the checks to guardian. This is money used to support you. Did your mother get any? If so, this is not "your" money. This money was used to support you. I believe the SS ends when you reach the age of majority which is 18 if you leave home and 23 if you are a full-time student.

When your father died your mother or guardian would have had to apply for survivor benefits in order for you to get checks. They don't hold the money for you. You can still apply for the benefits up until your 18th birthday longer if you are still in school but you will only get money from the time you apply.
