Note: I initially hesitated to include the name of the man (Charles Manson) quoted here, but I figured you all would be curious. Bottom line, I'd like for you all to judge the ideas expressed below, NOT the individual.

1) "The world of madness is a lot bigger than the world of sanity...Sanity is a little box that you walk around in. Sanity is a little world. Insanity is the universe."

2) "The mind is endless. You put me in a dark, solitary cell; and to you, that's the end. To me, it's the beginning. That's the universe in there. There's a world in there. I'm free."

The first quote is a lie, no one, least of all a madman could possibly grasp "the world of anything", the universe is beyond our comprehension.

The second quote is also a lie, the mind is not endless, it is finite, with a limited scope that ends in death. People, and yes Manson still qualifies as a person, adjust to captivity to the best of their ability, and denial is one of those ways. He's not free, he's incarcerated, and lying to himself out of desperation.

Lastly, religion aside, evil is a part of reality, and it is defined as the absence good. Never dabble in the the occult, it is as dangerous as insanity. We have an edge on people like Manson, we are sane. Your sanity, like your integrity is a real possession that some people simply do not possess. Jealousy or malice cause them to attack what they see in others that eludes them.

Understand that and appreciate the blessings you have, and pity those less fortunate than yourself. But not to the extent that you place yourself or your sanity in jeopardy.

I think I have seen this exact same question before. Firstly, sanity and madness are qualities of being, not places or spaces. Essentially the two statements or claim descriptives add up to the equivalent of 'I am insane'. It is an example of circular logic and a kind rationalism that has abandoned the senses completely. It's an other form for religion and rationalist spiritualism. Spirit is generally infinite in its self and an incomplete source for reasoning and identification. The Universe is no more sane than insane and torturing a tortured soul makes no good of it. These quotes are definitive proof for that.

The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative.

These quotes define a mind that has none of the usual constraints placed upon it. For example the usual constraint is to not even consider killing another for pleasure, however this mind could. It means that all aspects of the mind, the (as it has been quoted, but not true) evil sides of the personality, the good and the indifferent sides mix and mingle with no controll over them.

This will give a much brouder view of the universe and life, however it is also unstable. Due to the power given by such a perspective it has very little to no control over its own functioning and will more often than not seek out pleasure and retract from pain than someone else would. This is why such a mind (one with an expanded view of the universe inside and out and without any controlls governing it) is extremly dangerous.

Many have however thought (quite incorretly) that the perspective by itself is the dangerous thing and therefore have tried to reduced the chance of there being a perspective like this by 'dumbing down' the population. It is not however the perspective that is dangerous but the fact that it comes with very little to no controll if allowed to flourish untempered. Only when tempered can this perspective be a mighty tool for mankind.

Hope that you understand me and that this helps.

1) I don't know how anyone can call this a lie. Throughout history anyone who has had opposing beliefs from general society has been declared either heretic or insane. The world of imagination has also often been refered to as insanity, therefore it can be concluded that insanity as defined by the general populace is a lot bigger than sanity.

2) There is a religious saying that states "Satan frees us to bind us. God binds us to set usfree." "frees himself by locking himself away in his mind and preventing conventionality from invading his "world". The mind is endless as far as man can concieve it. We use only a minute fraction of our brains and with as much information as that portion can store it is incredible to imagine what the other portions of our brains might contain.

My views should in no way be interpreted as agreement with the actions of the family. I believe that they should have been punished even more severly for the horrors they commited.

He become in touch in hideous crimes. yet as Charlie has mellowed, detoxed and started to paint, we, as a public, have ben uncovered to his cerebral element. each and every so often appealing. I liken it to if we were waiting to seize Adolph Hitler and armed him with some oil paints. The rates: classic Manson. yet such an perception into the real middle of the human psyche. If a favorable spin might properly be positioned on those, and in case you had no longer prefaced it with the author, maximum in all threat human beings might have concept them to be with the help of a brilliant artist, author, muscian or actor. according to threat Manson will tutor to be all the above. broken down for the sane: stretch your limits, be your self--get to comprehend your guy or woman strategies and then push it a sprint. thank you for sharing this!!

Manson's encomium is really to intoxication over sobriety rather than insanity over sanity. Sobre people are not capable of the sorts of horrors committed by his "family". Insane people are also quite capable, but in his case, it was frenzy that Manson inculcated.
