Seeing as how I'm queer, this ought to be ovbious what I am going to say.....
I think that gay marriage should be allowed, AND I think that TG marriages should be allowed.
I have yet to see ONE argument against same sex marriage that DOES NOT involve religion, or based on personal opinion.
I thought EVERYONE had the right to pursue happiness....the government has stepped into our lives as far as possible, now they are reaching into our hearts and telling us who we can and can not "legally" love........LOVE, they are now trying to control our emotions........

We live in a country that is supposed to guarantee separation of church and state. Therefore, the law has no business saying who can and can't get married based on religious grounds. And there are no other grounds.
During the early 1950's, psychologist Evelyn Hooker carried out a landmark experiment where she tested both heterosexuals and homosexuals with tests designed to be diagnostic for mental disorder. She then presented the test results to other psychologists and asked them to pick out the homosexuals. They could not. These results were peer review puiblished in 1957 and as a result, homosexuality was removed from the next version of the Diagnostic and Statistical manual.
"As of 2006, all of the professional organizations in the field state that homosexuality is a normal, natural, and fixed sexual orientation, with the exception of a small group, The National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality whose beliefs appear to be based on conservative Christian theology." Currently, the American Psychological Association considers any attempt by a therapist to change a client's sexual orientation to be unethical..
Years ago, some people said it was wrong for blacks and whites to marry and it was illegal in some states. Yet it really was just an excuse to enforce discrimination and enable bigotry.
It's not enough to simply say it's wrong. You have to be able to say why it's wrong, without using the bible. I challenge anyone here to find some valid reason for denying a group of people a basic human right. We're not supposed to have second class citizens in this country.
Please don't say anything about the sanctity of marriage. Heterosexuals like Britney Spears do far more to tarnish that concept than any gay or lesbian couple that I know could possibly do.

i'm for it, even nonetheless i'm to undecided what the outcomes could be, like on a society this is amazingly entrenched in biblical ideals remains to be considered. i think of gay marriage is a pair steps forward (leaping until eventually now studying to stroll style of a element) for the yank public. i'm conversing approximately human beings in states that at the instant are not gay friendly. by using fact in all certainty I stay in San Fransisco and see gay human beings everywhere! SF has it is very own gay community, and human beings right here are turning out to be used to it so it is not completely taboo. yet don't be fooled by using fact once I challenge out of the state into usa's heartland, you wager human beings are not as welcoming. we won't even supply well being care to anybody, that's why europe is so forward human beings socially.

In my opinion, if you arent actually "in the gay marriage", then its none of your business. No one should tell a straight couple how to conduct their sex life or how to handle the personal specifics of their relationship. Unless, of course they are abusive or endangering others. You cant go out and choose a husband for a woman, or a wife for a man, so putting limitations on someones compacity to love someone is really dumb.......

I believe that two consenting adults who love each other should be able to get married... however, it raises the question why the government should have the right to dictate love or personal attachments and make relationships legal or illegal at all... isn't this better suited for a religious institution? Or no institution at all?

I think they should be allowed to marry. It's not like it's going to affect straight marriages. If two adults love each other, they should be able to get married. The government doesn't belong in their bedroom. And all that crap about marriage being a sacred union? Please. Up until the last few hundred years marriage was not about love, it was about political ties, or raising your economic/social status, or sex.

Marriage is registered with the State you live in.
Married couples get benefits from the State they live in and from the Federal Government. They receive hundreds of benefits.
Marriage is carried out by those "who are registered with the state" to perform the marriage ceremony.
Notice, not one of these things is related to "religion."

I say, let them be. They are in love just like any other couple, let them get married and have the same benefits (financially, medically, and otherwise) that anyone else gets when they decide to commit themselves to one person for the rest of their life. Why do people want people to live unhappily in a lie, when they could be perfectly happy married to their best friend, who happens to be the same sex?

I think it should be a right of citizenship. If two people are in love they should be legally able to have the same right of marriage as any other two people. I don't think a church needs to change their doctrine and allow it though. If that is a churches belief than no one should be able to make them change their doctrine, even if it does make sense to.

I think the same sex marriages should be allowed. Everyone should be created equal regardless of sexual preference. I don't see a problem with it, looking at it from a certain perspective: They will be together legal or illegal.
