Now what sex is the wife's friend? Male? Because one of the things that you have to understand once you enter into a marriage (especially one that you want to work, though it does depend on the situation and the people) there are just some things you can't do anymore. Situations that you just should not put yourselves in. When you get married your new best friend in the whole wide world is supposed to be that person with whom you are sharing a life with, because you are sharing a life! Goods, bads, ups, and downs. Take this scenario for instance, if the husband had a female friend that he hangs out with late at night at the bars or just "kicking it," he could end up making himself vulnerable to things happening between him and that friend on "accident" or "don't know how that just happened" depending on what kind of day he had. What if he had a fight with his wife that night and his "friend" just happens to be the shoulder he can vent to (which isn't always the best idea either because some things in your relationship just need to be "in house" and worked out between the two of you with no outside influences). Same with the wife! She really has no reason to be doing things like that. Now the situation is different if this friend has a companion of their own and both couples can hang out together. But that one on one with the opposite sex, you could be asking for things to happen, secrets to be kept, and strain to be put on the relationship. This is not to say that you shouldn't still have friends and other interests and things to do outside of each other, but a wife should know not make her man jealous (that is the rage of a man). As a man should always respect his woman's heart (because if she's a good woman she'll love and cherish you forever for it). You would have to ask yourself as well, that if you, your soulmate, and your friend can't hang out together and be peaceful what is wrong with that picture and what needs to change? There are many other different factors and things that can be said on this subject, it just depends on the situation, the relationship, and the people in it.
